Question: There are so many hypnosis schools advertising on the internet, how do I know which one is best?

Answer: This is a more complex question than it looks. Let's first understand that at this point in time, hypnotism is a non-licensed profession. This means that anyone can open a hypnotism school and call themselves a hypnotism instructor even with minimal or no hypnotism training. Many ill trained individuals are magnificent marketers and their website looks like you will be attending a recognized college. The term caveat emptor has never been more appropriate than in hypnosis training. It, unfortunately,  is up to you to do the research necessary to make an intelligent decision. Thankfully, the internet offers you a wonderful place to get the information you need. Here are some recommendations that may be helpful:

  1. Use a search engine to look for hypnosis training schools.
  2. Visit their websites to get a general overview of what they offer.
  3. Then go to some of the following places to ask questions about their training programs, instructors and support programs.

a. Yahoo groups with hypnosis in their subject. (for example, http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/hypnosis-hypnotherapy)
b. Hypnosis newsgroups (alt.hypnosis, alt.hypnotherapy etc.)
c. Call local hypnotists in your area and ask who they would recommend for either live or home-study training.

Above all, ASK questions of EVERYONE you can! Hypnosis training is expensive and you don't want to throw your money away. I can't tell you how many times people have told us, "I wish I knew about your training before I spent all my money on a class that did not teach me what I needed to do the work successfully."

To search for information on our training school and programs, suggested search terms would be:

  1. Omni Hypnosis Training Center
  2. Omni Hypnosis Center
  3. Gerald Kein
  4. Jerry Kein
  5. Gerry Kein

Again, when searching, look for what people are saying about the training center, NOT what the center is saying about themselves.

Question: A school in my area is holding a one weekend course and says I will be able to call myself a "Hypnotherapist" and know everything I need to open a professional practice. Is this true!

Answer: These trainings have been around for a long time. Again, common sense tells us that "If something sounds to good to be true, it usually is." They are usually used as a hook to get you to sign up for a $3-$5,000 or more, mail order "Doctorate or Ph.D. course. NONE of these "degrees" are recognized by ANY state. More and more states are calling these titles misleading advertising and unfair trade practices. Don't let yourself fall into this financial and legal pitfall. Think about it, do you really think you can become a skilled hypnotism professional in two days?

Question: I see all sorts of letters after hypnotists names, what do they mean?

Answer:  Some of the titles being used are:

  1. C.H. = Certified Hypnotist or Hypnotherapist
  2. C.HT. = Certified Hypnotherapist or Hypnotist
  3. C.C.H. = Certified Clinical Hypnotist or Hypnotherapist
  4. M.H. = Master Hypnotist
  5. C.M.H. = Certified Master Hypnotist
  6. D.C.H. = Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy.  You could potentially get in real legal trouble with this one.

This is not a complete list, but just the most common titles used. Technically, since the profession is not licensed or regulated any title can be invented and used, as long as the title is not protected by state law; such as, physician, doctor, psychologist, mental health counselor etc.

In reality, recognized national professional hypnosis organizations are trying to get everyone to use the same titles based on the level of training achieved. In general, the following is the way most truly professional groups issue their certificates:

  1. Upon completing a basic training, the student would use the title "Hypnotist."
  2. After completing advanced training, the title would generally be "Certified Hypnotist or Hypnotherapist."
  3. After completion of an advanced specialized clinical training, the title would be, "Certified Clinical Hypnotist or Hypnotherapist."
  4. The term "Master" is irrelevant and has no real meaning.
  5. The term "Doctor or P.Hd. has no legal standing and represents no statement of approved, accredited education unless earned in another state licensed profession/vocation. You can buy doctorates and P.Hd. degrees on the internet, even if you never graduated elementary school. They are a total embarrassment to the profession. The only thing these degrees will do for you is lighten your wallet.

Question: Ok, tell the truth. Does hypnosis really work?

Answer: Another great question. I like your candor. The quick answer is a resounding yes! It is said hypnosis is the 2nd oldest profession in the world. In my over forty years in the work, I have seen astounding changes, discoveries and growth in the profession. For example, today we now know how to induce deep trance in just about everyone in just seconds. Hypnotherapies have been developed in the medical and psychological fields that are creating fast and dramatic transformations in the physician's patients. Most people relate hypnotism to smoking or weight loss, but the reality is, it can be used to heal so many other conditions that  I could write about all day. We are teaching more and more physicians in our classes all the time. The acceptance by the medical and psychological professions is astounding. We are using it to improve every aspect of human motivation and behavior. Hypnosis sports improvement is becoming extremely popular with professional athletes. I personally have trained over 350 women to have their babies totally pain free! Yes......it really does work!

Question: Is it really possible to make a living in the hypnosis profession?

Answer: Let me answer this as truthfully as I possibly can. First, three things are necessary to give ANY business the opportunity to grow and prosper.

  1. The person must have the necessary skills to be successful in doing the job.
  2. There must be enough funding to invest into the business. Under capitalization is the major cause of business failures.
  3. (S)he must be capable to understand and use the marketing skills required to get the business up and running.

At the Omni Hypnosis Training Center®, we teach you the necessary skills to do the job and also show you some outstanding marketing methods that should get you up and running very quickly. Many of our former students are enjoying excellent lifestyles in this wonderful profession. Just a few of the ways you can earn a fine income are:

  1. See 8-10 clients per day at a minimum of $100 per session.
  2. Hold small group sessions 10-25 people @ $50.00 each twice a day.
  3. Teach Self-Hypnosis classes to groups in the evenings.
  4. Work in physician offices with their patients.
  5. Give smoking cessation or weight control sessions in hotels, hospitals or corporations.
  6. After your primary training, train as a stage hypnotist and work on cruse ships, nightclubs, schools, weddings etc.
  7. Eventually, open your own hypnosis school and become an instructor for a national hypnosis organization

The truth is, the list of how you can make a living with hypnotism could go on and on. If you want to help people and make a good living doing something you love, hypnotism could be the answer for you.

Question: What kind of post-training support does Omni offer?

Answer: When you become an Omni graduate, you are far from alone. Just a few of your post-training benefits include:

  1. We are just a phone call away. We are happy to answer any questions and give recommendations as they come up.
  2. Omni has the largest distance learning video source of anyone in the world and we are adding to this information base constantly to keep you up to date on the newest information as soon as it is available.
  3. After completing training, you are eligible to join our "Omni-grads" internet group. Although many others  would love to join this group, it's limited to Omni Hypnosis Training Center® graduates ONLY! It's like you joined a family of similarly trained and like minded friends. We not only chat with each other, but you can ask a "how to" question 24/7 and have a bunch of folks give you information on how they dealt with similar issues successfully. This is a fabulous resource and support group. Like many others, you may be fortunate enough to develop lifelong friendships here. Members love to meet in person at professional conventions or, if close geographically, develop luncheon or monthly meetings.

These are just a few of the questions we are asked. If you have any other questions, please call us at 386-738-9188.   We will quickly get you an answer.

Regards to all,
